Perhentian Island

Assalamualaikum. Hey there! Water baby is back!

As I've promised this entry will be about Perhentian Island. It is in Besut and I can go there anytime I want. Sadly though... I've never been to any Island in my whole life and I wish one day I can spend a relaxing holiday on a nice island. Honeymoon maybe? Teehee. So I've ready a few things on the internet about Perhentian Island and I'll include a few links down below for your own reference.
Okay let's start our journey.

Basically there are two islands and that is Perhentian Besar (Big Perhentian) and Perhentian Kecil (Small Perhentian). Well through the names you can already imagine the cost. The cost of staying at Perhentian Besar is of course more than in Perhentian Kecil. Still, both are nice tourism spots.

Get there!
You have to go to Kuala Besut jetty, and take a speedboat which leads to Perhentian Island. It takes less than an hour to get there and the fee is around RM 70. Or you can just take the ferry. Besides Kuala Besut, you can also reach the island from Kota Bharu, Kuala Terengganu or Jerteh. But all these locations are in the same coast which is the East Coast of Malaysia.

Weather!
You should do a little research on the weather because as I have said on my previous post about the beaches and rivers, the eastern monsoon can totally effect the business on the island. The season can be rough and choppy (Wikitravel). Some businesses will not operate and there would be limited food choices on the island therefore causing foods to be over-priced.

All pictures are from Google Images

One day, InsyaAllah. One day I'll be there for sure. Enjoy your trip. Live life :)

Sincerely,
author nad

The water baby story

Assalamualaikum. Hey there!

My birth element is water. No I don't really believe in all that but hey it's nice to know. At least I have an explanation as to why I love water so much. I'm not a good swimmer but I can't just soak up and be in the water all day! I was born, and raised in Terangganu, specifically Besut. Terengganu is famous for its keropok lekor, beautiful beaches, islands and its excel in maintaining religion and education.

In the district of Besut, there are two pantai (beach) named Pantai Bukit Kluang and Pantai Air Tawar. Basically, if you can walk along the beaches and be at both places because both beaches are connected. It is not advisable to visit it in the months of September to December because these months are when the East Coast of Malaysia gets affected by the north-east monsoon. Whether in the morning, noon, or evening. These beaches always appeal to me due to it's serenity and refreshing breeze. I just love the smell and sound of the ocean. It is one of the most calming sounds of nature. Once, I hiked the Bukit Kluang or Kluang Hill early in the morning and when we reached up top, we got the chance to see the sunrise. I cried for its beauty and warmth. Then I looked down, and I see a small beach hidden behind the hill. No one traveled there I believe, which adds to its mystery and exquisite beauty.

There are also two famous forest reserves or hutan lipur which is open to the public. They are Hutan Lipur Lata Belatan, which is a few minutes away from my house, and Hutan Lipur Lata Tembakah. The second one is famous for it's hot spring and has been attracting many tourists. It's suitable for gatherings and recreations with family and friends. It gives a feeling of being close to nature due the sounds of forest creatures, fresh crystal clear river water, and the laughs of the visitors. Here are some pictures.

School Trip

Hey there! Assalamualaikum. Nadhirah here :)

So one of my part of the writing is to talk about school trips. It is travelling as well but with a group of students, with teachers to accompany you. It can be a field trips or events trips. I myself have been to several school trips. Mostly due to debating tournaments. Here I would like to share a few tips on how to prepare for the trips and enjoy your time with your friends!

1) List
Okay firstly you have to confirm with you teachers about what type of trip will it be and then get the list of things that are compulsory. Then you can continue on to list all the personal things that you want to bring so that you can have fun along the way. For me, I need to have at least one book, and my iPod just in case everybody is asleep and I'm left alone to boredom.

2) Pack
Pack your stuffs neatly and try to minimize the things that you bring. It will be very tiring to carry lots of luggages. It's ideal to just bring one small or medium sized luggage and a backpack or any handcarry. Don't bother bringing so many personal stuffs because you would be spending most of your time with your friends or dealing with the events and activities.

3) Financial stuff
Travelling in the country wouldn't be a problem because we use the same currency. But for travelling in other countries, it might be a bit difficult. Cash out the amount of money that you think is appropriate and divide them, then stuff them into different places. Just in case :) It is great to have a credit card! No big amount of cash involved and you can use them anywhere in the whole wide world.

4) Food & Drinks
Usually this isn't a biggie. Some might want to save on food and some just splurge on it. It doesn't matter but buy some snacks that you can eat in your room or on the bus. Energy bars are good to carry along just in case that sudden pang of hungerness comes. For Muslims, make sure that the food you eat is halal. Extremely important guys. (Wow.. speaking from experience huh Nad?)

5) Accomodations
Importante! Check with your teacher wether the accomodations for your trip is already booked and secured. If not, help your teacher ease his or her burden to manage the booking process. They's appreciate that :)

6) Physical and mental
Get ready physically and mentally for the trip! My trips usually involves a group of people. Going to educational events are sometimes stressful. Especially debating and competing. It requires great mental health as well as physical endurance. Just set a thought in your mind that all the fatigue is gonna be gone when you meet with new friends from all over the country and all over the world. Making new friends is usually the best part!

7) Have fun!
Make good memories! It will only be fun if you make it fun. It is all up to you. Be positive. Be happy. Get the fun side of you out. Then you'll have a great time for sure.

Here are some pictures from my school trip to various places with my friends :)
